Table Rock, NC A Great Place To Hike

Table Rock, located in the Appalachian Mountains in Burke County, North Carolina, is a wonderful place to spend a day hiking, picnicking, or rock climbing. Located in the Pisgah National Forest and in the Linville Gorge area, the view from the top is spectacular. To get there, from Morganton, NC, drive north on Highway 181 and when you get to Gingercake Road, take a left. This will very quickly turn into a dirt/gravel road and you will travel 8 or 9 miles to the parking area. It gets very windy at the very top. The hike to the top is about one mile. To some, this hike might be a little challenging.

Walking through the woods is one of my favorite stress relievers. Along the Blue Ridge Parkway are numerous trails and paths. One of my favorites is the Linville Falls Trail and the Linville Groge Trail at Mile Post 316. You get a beautiful view the of Linville Falls and the Gorge area. The post card art quilt in the top right reminds me of that trail and any similar trails in the forest. The photo on the left is a picture of the falls from the upper trail. Lake in the Mountains

This postcard is my interpretation of a photograph I took while on a boat tour of Lake Lure, NC. This neat little community is hidden away in the mountains of western North Carolina. Located east of Asheville, NC at highway 9 and 64/74A, this community has much appeal. Located there is the Lake Lure Inn, a very historical inn oozing with ambience. Also located on the lake is the Lodge at Lake Lure where my husband and I have stayed. The folks there really know how to make each guest feel special. Hiking is a great draw to the area. There is so much to say about this area, I could go on and on. Lawton, Oklahoma area

My recent trip to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, Oklahoma led to my taking many pictures. (Aren't digital cameras wonderful?) On the drive to the Refuge, we saw some windmills in the distance so we turned down a road that led us closer to the windmills. We were very fascinated by this sight since there are no windmills like this in western NC. The Windmills card on the left is my interpretation of the picture on the right.
