I love soup in the winter!  

This is Italian Wedding Soup. I had to change the recipe a little to suit the ingredients I had at home.  Didn't feel like going to the store.

Tomato Soup Recipe

Tomato Soup

Saute one chopped onion until tender.  Add 2 cans of chopped tomatoes. Add a can of white beans such as Northern. You can drain and rinse the beans if you want.  Add a healthy squirt of barbeque sauce (about 1/4 cup)  or ketchup whichever is handy.  Add a dash or 2 of hot sauce. Add a can of chicken or vegetable broth. Add about a teaspoon of dried basil and oregano.  Stir and cook about 5 minutes or so. Using a ladle spoon into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.  You may have to repeat this process a couple of times.  Add salt and pepper to taste. Return to the stove to reheat or the microwave.

It makes enough for about 4 bowls of soup.  You can put it in a bowl and freeze for later.

Love the sun shining.  It has really invigorated me today.I also got some new fabric the other day too! I have designed several new postcards. I haven't finished them but they're ready to quilt.  I'll get them in my Sew Upscale shop in the next few days so stay tuned.

I decided I was going to go for a walk today.  Our Black Labrador started whining so I decided to take her with me.  I felt sorry for her because she has been housebound the last few days since it has been cloudy, raining and cold.  This was not a very good decision on my part.  She has never taken to the leash and she pulls like crazy.  Well, that's what she did!  I walked or rather ran about three blocks and turned around. The good part is I made record time. The bad news is she may have pulled my shoulder out of joint.

 Here she is with our cat.  She is normally the most gentle dog.  But don't put a leash on her!

Oh! To Be Two Again!

Yesterday I got to keep my 2 1/2 year old grandson.  He lives in Raleigh, a three hour drive, and I don't get to see him as often as I would like.  His mother was in western NC for business so she brought him with her and I got the privilege of spending the day with him.  He is such a joy!

Although it was kind of rainy, we managed to go for a walk.  He had questions about everything.  Where is your neighborhood?  Who are your neighbors? What kind of nuts were on the ground? What kind of animal eats them?  What kind of leaves? Why? Why? Why? You get the picture.  We picked up leaves and glued them on paper when we got back.

I read him books until my voice gave out.  One of his favorites is Johnny Appleseed.

He takes such pleasure from the simple things of life.  Oh to be a two year old again!  We all need more age two in us.
